Jihad of the soul against desire is the foundation of jihad against unbelievers and hypocrites, for a Muslim cannot wage jihad against them unless he has first waged jihad against his own soul and desires before he goes out against them. [Source: Rawdat Al-Muhibeen 1/478]
Furthermore, armed jihad against an external enemy has conditions and limits and not every Muslim needs to perform it, yet the internal jihad against the soul must be practiced by everyone. A just armed jihad cannot be waged by people whose hearts and minds are defiled by hatred and who are ignorant of Islam’s moral teachings. As such, Allah has commanded the believers to appoint scholars to teach those who perform military service so as to prevent them from transgressing on the battlefield. Allah said:
It is not for the believers to go forth in battle all at once. For they should separate from every division of them a group to obtain understanding in the religion and to warn {teach} their people when they return to them that they might be cautious {mindful and gaining in knowledge}.
[At-Tawba 9:122]
Therefore, the jihad against the soul must be practiced by all of us on a daily basis. We must struggle to purify our hearts from all spiritual diseases that lead to transgression and sin, for only in this way can our external struggles be made just and upright.

Envy and Jealousy
The Ten Commandments are the well-known instructions, the essence of the Torah, which Allah revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai, peace and blessings be upon him. The commandments prohibit the major sins of idolatry, impiety, disrespect for parents, murder, theft, adultery, false witness, and envy.
These commandments are among the core teachings of Judaism and Christianity that are taught to children at an early age, and all of them are included within the teachings of Islam. Some believe these commands go back as far as the seven laws of Noah, peace and blessings be upon him.
And God spoke all these words, saying: “I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me, Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth, Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them, for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”
Say: O people of the Book, let us come to a common word between us, that we will not worship anything but Allah, we will not associate anything with Him, and we will not take one another as lords instead of Allah. But if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we {are Muslim who} submit to Allah.
[Surah Al-Imran 3:64]
These common teachings can be distilled into two main principles: love for Allah and love for our neighbors. In other words, we should respect the rights of Allah by holding sound beliefs and performing acts of worship in the best manner, and we should respect the rights of people by treating them in the way we would love to be treated. All of the divine revelations throughout history are founded upon these two principles.
Holy Quran 6:151
Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right [capital punishment]. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."
Holy Quran 6:152
And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you testify, be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allah fulfill. This has He instructed you that you may remember.
Holy Quran 6:153

And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His [Allah’s] way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.
Holy Quran 6:154

Then We gave Moses [in his time of prophethood] the Scripture [Torah], making complete [Our favor] upon the one who did good and as a detailed explanation of all things and as guidance and mercy that perhaps in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord they would believe.
Holy Quran 6:155

And this [Qur'an] is a Book We have revealed [which is] blessed, so follow it and fear Allah that you may receive mercy.
And the vision of all this has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed. When men give it to the one who can read , saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” And when they give the book to one who cannot read , saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot read.” The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. (Isaiah 29:11-13)
Holy Quran 6:159

Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you, [O Muhammad], are not [associated] with them in anything. Their affair is only [left] to Allah; then He will inform them about what they used to do.
Holy Quran 3:20
------------------
So if they argue with you [O’ Prophet then], say, "I have submitted myself to Allah [in Islam], and [so have] those who follow me." And say to those who were given the Scripture and [to] the unlearned, "Have you submitted yourselves?" And if they submit [in Islam], they are rightly guided; but if they turn away - then upon you is only the [duty of] notification. And Allah is Seeing of [His] servants.
Holy Quran 3:68
------------------
Indeed, the most worthy of Abraham among the people are those who followed him [in submission to Allah true monotheism] and this prophet [Muhammad s.a.w], and those who believe [in his message]. And Allah is the ally of the believers.
Holy Quran 3:69

A faction of the people of the Scripture wish they could mislead you. But they do not mislead except themselves, and they perceive [it] not.
Holy Quran 3:118

O you who have believed, do not take as intimates those other than yourselves, for they will not spare you [any] ruin. They wish you would have hardship. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater. We have certainly made clear to you the signs, if you will use reason.
Holy Quran 3:119

People often use the words envy and jealousy interchangeably, but there are important differences between them. Jealousy exposes fear of loss; while envy hinges on feeling inferior.
Envy is a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to someone ‘s advantages, possessions, or traits such as beauty, success, talent and applicable to religion as many of the verses just read, Allah the knower of peoples hearts knows how the people of falsehood and false-religion {incorrect, deviations, innovations} feel about the people of truth...
The Messenger (saw) said, in a well known hadith the following:
“How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, and this applies to no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him.”
(Narrated by Muslim, 2999).
It’s also a common defense to shame, when we feel less than another in some respect. When the defense is working, we’re not aware of feeling inadequate. We may even feel superior and disparage the person we envy. A malignant narcissist might go so far as to sabotage, misappropriate, or defame the envied person, all the while unconscious of feeling inferior. Arrogance and aggression serve as defenses along with envy. Generally, the degree of our devaluation or aggression is commensurate with the extent of underlying shame.
Jealousy also stems from feelings of inadequacy, though they are usually more conscious than with envy. However, whereas envy is the desire to possess what someone else has, jealousy is the fear of losing what we have. We feel vulnerable to losing the attention or feelings of someone close to us to someone else {a close friend, teacher, or spouse}. It is defined as mental uneasiness due to suspicion or fear of rivalry or unfaithfulness and may approach envy whenever that rival has aspects that we desire or see those whom we wish to hold their attentions gravitating towards. By discouraging infidelity, jealousy, historically has served to maintain the species through pursuit of marital bonds, certainty of paternity, and the integrity of the family although drastically different today. Still Jealousy can be a destructive force in relationships — even lethal as Jealousy is the leading cause of spousal homicides.

After understanding the subtle differences between Jealousy and Envy, reflect back to the verses you read prior just above. Our worldly jealousies and envies are self-explanatory varying in degrees of severity dependent upon the animosities of those who harbour such emotions...But, lets look at the envy that is transparent through religion.
For much of the world is in contrast on this issue, and especially with the rise of all the religious propaganda of the west continued crusades and world domination of the zionist jews; its beneficial to shed some light on these issues. In the West {western world} The Christian majority may have been raised to ignore the true claims of other religions, while others are strongly affected by what they learn in political doctrines disguised as religion... |
Holy Quran 61:5
------------------
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Moses said to his people, "O my people, why do you harm me while you certainly know that I am the messenger of Allah to you?" And when they deviated, Allah caused their hearts to deviate. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
Allah has granted man the freedom of choice. Now it is for every man and for every group of men to decide whether he or it wants to obey their Lord, or not, and whether he or it chooses the right way for it or one of the crooked ways. There is no compulsion from Allah in this choice. If somebody chooses the way of obedience and guidance, Allah does not push him forcibly towards deviation and disobedience; and if somebody is resolved to follow disobedience instead of the way of righteousness, it is not Allah’s way to make him adopt the way of obedience and guidance forcibly. But this also is the truth that a person who chooses a particular way for himself, cannot follow it practically unless Allah provides for him the ways and means and creates for him the conditions which are necessary for following it. This is Allah’s grace and favor without which no one’s efforts can be meaningful and productive. Now, if a person is not at all interested in seeking Allah’s grace for righteousness, but seeks His grace for adopting evil, he is given the same [ways and means to do so]. And when he receives the grace for doing evil, he becomes temperamentally perverse accordingly and the course of his action and effort goes on becoming crooked until at last the capability to do and accept good in him is gradually lost and destroyed. This is what is meant by, when they adopted perverseness, Allah caused their hearts to become perverse. In this state it is against the law of Allah that the one who wants to adopt deviation, and is actively and earnestly engaged in seeking it, and is expending all his thought and energy to move further and further on towards it, should be forcibly turned towards guidance, for such an action would negate the object of the test and trial, for which man has been granted the freedom of choice in the world. For if a man adopts righteousness through such forcible guidance, there is no reason why he should be entitled to any reward whatever because they were forced instead of becoming so through they own free will. Oppositely, such is the case, for the one who was not guided by force and was left in deviation on that account; this person would not be subjected to any punishment, for the responsibility for their forced deviation would lie on Allah...and at the time of his accountability in the Hereafter, this person could present the argument: “When there existed the rule of granting guidance forcibly in the world, why was I deprived of that favour?” This is the meaning of the words: Allah does not guide the transgressors. That is, Allah does not grant the favor of adopting the way of obedience to those, who have chosen the way of sin and disobedience for themselves of their own free will.
The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him [this prophet] ye shall hearken [listen]. According to all that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb [Mount Sinai or Mount Moses is located on the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt is the traditional site where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God. It is 2285 metres high] in the day of the assembly, saying: “Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. And the Lord said unto me [Moses], “They have well spoken that which they have spoken.” I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.” (Deut. 18: 15- 19).
This is an express prophecy of the Torah, which applies to none but the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In it the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) is conveying to his people this direction of Allah: “I will raise up for you a Prophet from among your brethren”. Obviously, the brethren of a nation cannot be a tribe or a family of the nation itself, but another nation to which it is related racially. If it had implied the coming of a Prophet from among the children of Israel themselves, the words would have been to the effect: “I shall raise up a Prophet for you from among yourselves.” Hence, the brethren of the Israelites can inevitably imply the Ishmaelites, who are their relatives by lineage, being the children of the Prophet Abraham (peace be on him).
The other thing foretold in the prophecy is that the Prophet to be raised up would be like into the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him). Instead the likeness of Moses & Muhammad in circumstances of life, and in the characteristics of their respective Prophethoods, are more common in likeness that fulfills the prophecy of “like unto you”. Lastly, the resemblance on the basis of which the Prophet of the future becomes understandable is that that Prophet should be a bearer of divine law like the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him). And this peculiarity is found in none but the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), for Jesus was given the Gospels as guidance but it wasn’t a law, which is why Jesus a.s said, “I come to fulfill the law of the Torah”... none of them had brought a permanent divine law until the Quran....
Holy Quran 61:6
------------------
And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, "This is obvious magic."
The name of "Muhammad" is frequently mentioned verbatim in the Gospel of Barnabas, as inthe following quote: Jesus answered, "The name of the one to come is admirable, for God himself gave him the namewhen he had created his soul, and placed it in a celestial splendour. God said: 'Wait Mohammed; for thy sake I will to create paradise, the world, and a great multitude of creatures, whereof I make thee a present, insomuch that whoso bless thee shall be blessed,and whoso shall curse thee shall be accursed. When I shall send thee into the world I shall send thee as my messenger of salvation, and thy word shall be true, insomuch that heaven and earth shall fail, but thy faith shall never fail.' Mohammed is his blessed name." Then the crowd lifted up their voices, saying: "O God, send us thy messenger: O Admirable One, come quickly for the salvation of the world!" {Barnabas 97:9-10}
New Testament references to the Paraclete (John 14:16, 14:26, 15:26, 16:7). The Greek word" paraclete" can be translated as "Counsellor", and refers according to Christians to the Holy Spirit. Some Muslim scholars, have noted the similarity to the Greek "peryklytos" which can be translated as "admirable one"; or in Arabic, "Ahmad".
This {verse 61:6} relates to the second disobedience of the children of Israel. The first disobedience they committed in the beginning of their great era of power and prosperity, and this second towards the very end of it, after which they came under the wrath and curse of Allah forever because of their persistence in erring.
Yet in still, after their disappointment with Jesus a.s and his foretold prophecy of the prophet to come after him, many Jewish tribes migrated to Medina in Arabia to await the foretold prophet...
Banu Aus andthe Banu Khazraj were the two Arab tribes from Yemen who settled in Medina:
The principal families from the Jews were the Banu Ḳainuḳa', the Banu Ḳuraiẓa, and the Banu al-Naḍir. The latter two were known as the "Al-Kahinan," because they traced their descent from prophet Harun a.s. [Aaron].
So, when the awaited prophet came out of Mecca with his hijrah [escaping persecution in Mecca first 13 yrs], the Arab tribes of Banu Aus and Khazraj and those of the Jewish tribes were present. But again, the Jewish tribes were reluctant to accept him [Muhammad s.a.w] when he arrived in Medina...
Holy Quran 2:146
------------------
Those to whom We gave the Scripture [Jews & Christians] know him [Muhammad s.a.w.] as they know their own sons [all of his descriptions from scripture they recognized]. But indeed, a party of them conceal the truth while they know [it].
Holy Quran 2:140
------------------
Or do you say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and their Descendants were Jews or Christians? Say, "Are you more knowing or is Allah?" And who is more unjust than one who conceals a testimony he has from Allah? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.
One of the major test Allah put forward for the Jews in order to see if they would accept Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, was the direction to face for prayer [qiblah]. While still in Mecca, Prophet Muhammad s.a.w used to stand south of the Kaaba in order to face it as well as the qiblah for Jerusalem, which was still a valid direction to face for prayer by both the Jewish and new followers of rasoolullah {Messenger of Allah} Muhammad s.a.w... However, once migrated to Medina, Allah changed the direction for Muslims to pray towards the Kaaba in Mecca {the first established house for prayer}. In changing the direction of prayer to Mecca, this meant that all the Muslims facing Mecca would now have their backs towards Jerusalem, which incited within the hearts of the Jews more enmity.
Holy Quran 2:143
------------------
And thus we have made you a just community [Muslims] that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you. And We did not make the qiblah which you used to face except that We might make evident who would follow the Messenger {Muhammad s.a.w.] from who would turn back on his heels. And indeed, it is difficult except for those whom Allah has guided. And never would Allah have caused you to lose your faith. Indeed Allah is, to the people, Kind and Merciful.
Holy Quran 2:144
------------------
We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram [Mecca]. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it [in prayer]. Indeed, those who have been given the Scripture well know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do.
Holy Quran 2:145
------------------
And if you brought to those who were given the Scripture every sign, they would not follow your qiblah. Nor will you be a follower of their qiblah. Nor would they be followers of one another's qiblah. So if you [Muhammad s.a.w] were to follow their desires [seeking to control the prophet and deviate him] after what has come to you of knowledge [revelation of Quran], indeed, you would then be among the wrongdoers.
So Allah banished them throughout the earth from the Holy land not to return to it which is the significance of a Prophet from a new Nation Ishmailites and the abrogation from the law of the Torah to the law of the Quran
Holy Quran 7:168
------------------
And We divided them throughout the earth into nations. Of them some were righteous, and of them some were otherwise. And We tested them with good [times] and bad that perhaps they would return [to obedience].
Holy Quran 7:169
------------------
And there followed them successors who inherited the Scripture [while] taking the commodities of this lower life and saying, "It will be forgiven for us." And if an offer like it comes to them, they will [again] take it. Was not the covenant of the Scripture taken from them that they would not say about Allah except the truth, and they studied what was in it? And the home of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah, so will you not use reason?
Holy Quran 3:105
------------------
And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment.
Holy Quran 5:42
------------------
[They are] avid listeners to falsehood, devourers of [what is] unlawful. So if they come to you, [O Muhammad], judge between them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them - never will they harm you at all. And if you judge, judge between them with justice. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
Holy Quran 5:44
------------------
Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. The prophets who submitted [to Allah] judged by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allah, and they were witnesses thereto. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed - then it is those who are the disbelievers.
Holy Quran 5:45
------------------
And We ordained for them therein a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds is legal retribution. But whoever gives [up his right as] charity, it is an expiation for him. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.
Holy Quran 5:46
------------------
And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous.
Holy Quran 5:47
------------------
And let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed therein. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed - then it is those who are the defiantly disobedient.
Holy Quran 5:48
------------------
And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth. To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good. To Allah is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.
Holy Quran 5:82
------------------
You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.

And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, "Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.
The name of "Muhammad" is frequently mentioned verbatim in the Gospel of Barnabas, as inthe following quote: Jesus answered, "The name of the one to come is admirable, for God himself gave him the namewhen he had created his soul, and placed it in a celestial splendour. God said: 'Wait Mohammed; for thy sake I will to create paradise, the world, and a great multitude of creatures, whereof I make thee a present, insomuch that whoso bless thee shall be blessed,and whoso shall curse thee shall be accursed. When I shall send thee into the world I shall send thee as my messenger of salvation, and thy word shall be true, insomuch that heaven and earth shall fail, but thy faith shall never fail.' Mohammed is his blessed name." Then the crowd lifted up their voices, saying: "O God, send us thy messenger: O Admirable One, come quickly for the salvation of the world!" {Barnabas 97:9-10}
Holy Quran 5:83
------------------
And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, "Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.

Just as the Quran explains, and confirms what is in the hearts of many peoples from religious envy {Holy Envy}; The lack of information or understanding from many peoples to completely grasp this absolute truth, is precisely why the world is in the turmoil its in. Because of the wrong doings of previous nations unto their prophets, Allah has honoured his last prophet Muhammad s.a.w with a sustaining title of Last prophet and strengthened the Muslim nation with an abiding Law [Quran] that remains until Allah sees fit to remove it from the earth prior to “The Hour”.
|
Because of this honour, it reminds the previous nations of their dishonour and remaining curse Allah has set upon them. The only salvation for people who aren’t yet Muslim, is to return to the religion of Abraham a.s
Holy Quran 2:130
------------------
And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself. And We had chosen him in this world, and indeed he, in the Hereafter, will be among the righteous.
Holy Quran 2:131
------------------
When his Lord said to him, "Submit", he said "I have submitted [in Islam] to the Lord of the worlds."
Holy Quran 2:132
------------------
And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob, [saying], "O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims."
Holy Quran 2:133

Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one God. And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."
For the Christian, their jealousies towards muslims is obvious and also something now understood deeply. Because the entire doctrine of Christianity teeters on the deification of Jesus son of Mariam a.s, the delicacy of this one issue makes it quite clear to me why their jealousies are present. The fear of losing that one concept that validates their entire value and belief system, their current and past way of life, and societal culture...Is all for nothing once the they turn the other cheek towards the truth.
Holy Quran 3:65
------------------
O People of the Scripture, why do you argue about Abraham while the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Then will you not reason?
Holy Quran 3:66
------------------
Here you are - those who have argued about that of which you have [some] knowledge, but why do you argue about that of which you have no knowledge? And Allah knows, while you know not.
Holy Quran 3:67
------------------
Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was one inclining toward truth, a Muslim [submitting to Allah]. And he was not of the polytheists.
