Monopoly
Society can take a good lesson from the board game monopoly...The complete aim of this game is “acquisition” nothing more. Down to the last dollar spent and the last property purchased or enhancement made to properties with hotels etc...After all that, everything has to return to the box... Everything acquired goes right back in the box. Similarity, in life, everything thing acquired stays behind to be transferred and used by the next while we ourselves go back in the box. We suddenly see what was pursued in worldly life was temporarily loaned for its useage & enjoyment. No matter what, this is an inevitable end, and a lesson that teaches no matter what we gain in this life, nothing of it goes with us, instead its inherited by those who remain in life. Sometimes that means our off-spring and sometimes what is accumulated is left for complete strangers who gain what we have acquired through debts and other qualifying rights or schemes to our personal treasures. Even parents’, wives and children are left behind. This leaves us with only one question, “what really matters”?

Just like the individual body, the collective too has a body. Like a car made up of individual pieces that works collectively, systematically, and simultaneously in a concerted effort. Without the concerted effort the individual pieces are singled out as individual pieces and thus loose their significance from the higher order for which they were created . This harmonious collaboration is how humanity is suppose to work...As individuals we are insignificant! But when we work with the rest of humanity, especially in doing good, our individuality transcends itself into a more impactful and meaningful existence. Perhaps this is the reason why whenever we do something for someone no matter how small or great, we’re immediately overwhelmed with feels of goodness and praise from those who have benefited from our kindness. Similarly, if someone never does anything for anyone life would not have meaning, nor would it be much of a life worth living.
Like other creation, its easy to see how ants, bees, lions, wolves, fish, trees, the universe, night and day, seasons all work harmoniously without any changes to their purpose. In fact, its only because of human intervention in these systems, that we see those Eco-systems in peril or struggle. Much like an ailing body, the collective body is too inherently subject to the overall health of each of its pieces. Whenever a portion of the human machine is temporarily plagued with problems or disease, so to is the entire human machine. But when the human-being is plagued with ailments, his ailments carry over into the rest of creation; the irony is it causes declines in the environment that directly effect our overall health {food, water, nourishment for development, reproduction and so on...and ultimately our own demise. For example of the many varying problems humans have created upon the environment is:
The human machine is only as good as the weakest portions of its collective body, and the domain for human dwelling is directly affected by the wellness of all people. So, its well within humanities interest to strengthen itself by strengthening those who are weaker and work toward the freedom humanity was granted by the one who is sovereign [Allah]. Only in this way is the overall machine of creation sustainable.

- Many of our birds are disappearing mysteriously from the urban environment and our bees are now under serious threat. There is increasing evidence that at least some of this is due to electromagnetic pollution such as that from cell towers, cell phones, DECT cordless phones and Wifi. It appears capable of interfering with their navigation systems and also their circadian {natural 24hr cycle even with absence of light} rhythms, which in turn reduces their resistance to disease. The most probable reason is that these animals use a group of magnetically-sensitive substances called cryptochromes for magnetic and solar navigation and also to control the activity of their immune systems.
- We have compared the performance of honeybees in cell phone radiation exposed and unexposed colonies. A significant decline in colony strength and in the egg laying rate of the queen was observed. The behavior of exposed foragers was negatively influenced by the exposure, there was neither honey nor pollen in the colony at the end of the experiment.”{Guerra, Patrick A., Robert J. Gegear, and Steven M. Reppert. “A magnetic compass aids monarch butterfly migration.” Nature Communications, vol. 5, no. 4164, 2014.}

A Nation before who was set on “Greed”
Holy Quran 11:84
------------------
And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb [a prophet]. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. And do not decrease from the measure and the scale [in business]. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but indeed, I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing Day.
Holy Quran 11:85
------------------
And O my people, give full measure and weight in justice [good business] and do not deprive the people of their due and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.
Holy Quran 11:86
------------------
What remains [lawful] from Allah is best for you, if you would be believers. But I am not a guardian over you." {prophets are warners to the wrong doers, and givers of glad tidings for believers}
Holy Quran 11:87
------------------
They said, "O Shu'ayb, does your prayer command you that we should leave what our fathers worship [pagans] or not do with our wealth what we please? [ secular minded, thinking that religion and business should be separate] Indeed, you are the forbearing, the discerning!"
Holy Quran 11:88
------------------
He said [Shu’ayb], "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord [that he is a prophet] and He has provided me with a good provision from Him...? And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have forbidden you; I only intend reform as much as I am able. And my success [how many will accept his guidance] is not but through Allah. Upon him I have relied, and to Him I return.
Holy Quran 11:89
------------------
And O my people, let not [your] dissension from me cause you to be struck by that similar to what struck the people of Noah or the people of Hud or the people of Salih. And the people of Lot are not from you far away.
Holy Quran 11:90
------------------
And ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is Merciful and Affectionate."
Holy Quran 11:91
------------------
They said, "O Shu'ayb, we do not understand much of what you say [disbelief f blocks their judgement] , and indeed, we consider you among us as weak. And if not for your family [strong support], we would have stoned you [to death]; and you are not to us one respected."
Holy Quran 11:92
------------------
He said, "O my people, is my family more respected for power by you than Allah? But you put Him [Allah] behind your backs [in neglect]. Indeed, my Lord is encompassing of what you do.
Holy Quran 11:93
------------------
And O my people, work according to your position; indeed, I am working. You are going to know to whom will come a punishment that will disgrace him and who is a liar. So watch; indeed, I am with you a watcher, [awaiting the outcome]."
Holy Quran 11:94
------------------
And when Our command came, We saved Shu'ayb and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us. And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone
This was the nation of Shu’ayb a.s. [Jethro in bible] a prophet sent to his people who were a wealthy & business type of people who adapted cheating and other bad business practices. In addition to bad business, in verse 87 we can also see how the people began a secularist mindset, where they challenged their prophet with response encouraging religion and business to be separate, something that plagues the western world today. Because of their greed much of their judgements become distorted until they reached a point where simple belief in Allah and the truth of what their prophet was speaking was foreign to their understanding. This is something that the disease of greed does...It masks the concept of morality, fairness, and justice and replaces it with new “societal-norms” that become a societies tradition or culture. Through culture, behavioral practices are solidified and replace the divine commands that are meant to govern creation. This underwriting of natural laws is thus justified with political rhetoric, luxury, and love for temporal things that sets the nation upon an unsustainable course as their desires become their gods {what they serve}.
Holy Quran 25:43

Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire - of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses [transportation today “cars”], and cattle and tilled land [business today]. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allah has with Him the best return.

Motivated to the accumulation of things, because today’s marketing strategies are all aimed at making a person less content. Psychologically, the more a person can acquire its as if they are simultaneously satiating whatever deficiencies they have with the dopamine affects of spending or hoarding while also trying to add years to their lives defying death with the delusion that they will have time to enjoy all that they acquire. These out of control desires lead to all forms of greed and or selfishness in order to satiate oneself, and life then becomes a constant struggle to maintain what isn’t sustainable. As a consequence, these actions bring about anger & aggression that derive from these wanting states all because a person is constantly insisting on looking at what isn’t true. In this case, this type of existence isn’t true. Struggles are of different types:
Ibn Rajab writes: “Base desires are its leader, carnal desires its commander, Ignorance its driving force and negligence is the vessel by which it embarks. It is completely engrossed in pursuing its worldly desires. It is driven wild by the intoxication of its base desires and loves of temporal things. It hears the call to Allah and the abode of the hereafter from a distant (far off place) and does not respond to the sincere adviser (al-Quran/ Allah). It follows every cunning devil (with beautified speech), and the world is the cause of its anger and or pleasure. Desires have deafened it and blinded it to anything besides its own opinions and falsehood.”
[The keys to Paradise, Ibn Rajab].
- impermanent things. >>>>> fancying and desiring impermanent things over what is permanent & real
- Emptiness. >>>>for which man tries to fill him/herself with good or evil tries to make temporal things permanent. Human beings are born having & knowing nothing but Allah equips us with eyes, ears, & a heart so we can fill the soul/spirit with nourishment and thus obtain & maintain happiness through rough & easy periods.
- Hanging on to things >>>>>>> the Buddhist philosophy is a sequential process that recognizes the steps of consequences that derive from greed. Greed is a prominent neurosis since its directly proportionate to its addictive level. In other words, the greedier a person becomes, the less their minds produce transmitters for punishment (right & wrong) which enables them towards deeper and deeper greed.
Ibn Rajab writes: “Base desires are its leader, carnal desires its commander, Ignorance its driving force and negligence is the vessel by which it embarks. “A King who doesn’t befriend the poor, will not be humble nor know the needs of his people; while a peasant who befriends a king will never know contentment”. ~Isma’il Swift~
Mildred Norman wrote: “The things you cannot relinquish after its out lived its purpose of usefulness becomes something that possess us, In this materialistic age, a great many people have become possessed by their possessions”...
Again, its an interesting comparison if we human-beings look and learn fro the animal kingdom and its eco-system. Because they {animals} have not any free will but instead are subdued by the creator to instinct & purpose, which is an inspiration for the animals from the creator to know exactly what to do {their purpose} and they don’t deviate from this.

Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." There emerges from their bellies [bees] a drink [honey], varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
We see that animals only take from nature what is needed to survive, but the Human being, when he/she becomes a slave to desire {animalistic} takes more than is needed and continues to take until he/she is inevitably confronted with the reality of death. Like the mouse whose brain has been wired to trigger dopamine stimulus, the mouse is unable to stop this self-induction and so is the human being who leaves desires unchecked, they fall victim to the same fate.

In Arabic terms are used for education. The most common is ta'līm, from the root 'alima, which means knowing, being aware, perceiving and learning. Another term is Tarbiyah from the root of raba, which means spiritual and moral growth based on the will of God.

They [Angels} said, "Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us {Angels have no volition and do only as they are commanded}. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise."
Since the word islam means “submission”; when the term “Islamic” is used in conjunction with Education, we derive a full meaning of the all encompassing source of education permeated from the source of all knowledge...”Allah”. Therefore education has no substances in cultivating humanity unless it remains rooted in the sacred or divine. Within the Islamic Creed, is the complete understanding of sovereignty...We are created to be free and this granting unto the human beings encompasses all aspects of life especially the freedom of thought which is enhanced by gaining knowledge. Knowing in turn makes a better human being and a better human-being makes better choices by which felicity has the potential to be sustained.
|
Likewise, Islam obliterated restrictions that block the functionality of the mind and prevent it from thinking freely. Islam asserted human freedom of the mind from enslavement of specific notions that entails clinging to the footsteps of previous generations, blindly following In what ultimately leads to the same fate. Islam, first seeks to actualize the human-being first through acquainting us with the Shari`ah {divine laws} which Allah has given to man to organize his life with the larger universal law. As we come into knowing how {our lives} relate to the general law of the universe we can then properly live harmonious with it. This obedience to the Shari`ah {divine laws} becomes a necessity for human beings, so that not only our lives become harmonious & in tune with the rest of the universe; but is also the only way in which harmony can be brought about between the physical laws which are operative within our own biological systems. Lastly, the moral laws which govern our voluntary actions; this solidification helps mankind apply himself in a just manner from what is obtained of knowledge and in whatever field of livelihood one participates. Only in this way does man's personality, internal and external, become integrated.
After all, mankind can never transcend the understanding of the creator in all the laws of the universe, nor can he comprehend the unity of this system; he cannot even understand the laws which govern his own person, from which he cannot deviate by a hair's breadth. We are then only able to understand the application of such laws. So, why is it that man arrogantly attempts making laws for a system of life that humanity is unable to fully grasp?
This capability belongs solely to the Creator of the universe, who not only controls the universe but also human affairs, and Who implements a uniform law according to His will.

Total harmony between human life and the laws of the universe are entirely beneficial for mankind, as this is the only guarantee against any kind of discord in worldly-life. Only in this state will we be at peace with or selves and at peace with the universe at large; This promotes living in one accordance with all creation through are voluntary actions and its movements. In the same way, we will obtain peace of mind, as our actions will agree with our true natural demands {hierarchy of needs for survival}, with no conflict between the two. When a man makes peace with his own nature, peace and cooperation {not competition} among individuals follow automatically, as they all live together under one system, which is a part of the general system of the universe. Islamic education thus comprises a set of concepts and tenets pertaining to human nature, creed, intellect, and attitude, along with spiritual and physical values, all entwined in a unified perceptual framework; relying, entirely, on its fundamentals and morals from the guidance given the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w {the Holy Quran and the Prophet’s Sunnah, which are all his actions & example of living life}. Through Islamic education, individuals are educated and cultured following an all-encompassing method that involves all aspects mentioned, without compromising any, or giving primacy of one over the other.

Definition of liberal arts according to Merriam Webster dictionary...
1: the medieval studies comprising the trivium {medieval universities study of grammar, rhetoric, and logic} and quadrivium {medieval universities study of arithmetic, geometry, astrology and music} 2: college or university studies (such as language, philosophy, literature, abstract science) intended to provide chiefly general knowledge and to develop general intellectual capacities (such as reason and judgment) as opposed to professional or vocational skills |
Its roots {liberal arts} can be traced to the Latin word liber, meaning “free, unrestricted.” Our language took the term from the Latin liberales artes, which described the education given to freeman and members of the upper classes, and involved training in the mind (grammar, logic, geometry, etc.). The lower classes were educated in the servile arts, which were mechanical or occupational in nature... From this its very easy to see that secular institutions of learning {all schools under secularist system} is design not to free or unrestrict individuals but instead block the functionality of the mind for the masses while allowing the “elite class” opportunities of control. Even them {the elite class} fall victim to their own concocted ideals, because neither person {elite or poor} are fully actualized in such a system. In short, this particular system is designed for individuals to chance money...Chance money in a perpetual loop paycheck to paycheck in a system that promotes debt not ownership or freedom, which further enslaves the masses. These are the shackles that rob people of their inherent sovereignty, talents and ultimately their full-potential. As a consequence you see many people unhappy in the work that they do, and or hindered by {licenses, permits, or other ordinances} from that which makes them happy.
It’s a capitalistic doctrine solely to fulfill this means, which is why we see all of the vocational schools and online degree programs all serving to place individuals within societial roles that serve the elite. This type of education doesn’t help humanity in reaching its full potential, but rather brings the glass ceiling lower over the heads of those it intends to trap within a system of servitude.
Capitalism is a vacuum, both literally and figuratively. It needs lower rungs within society {now globally} to leach from in order to perpetuate its ideals and practices. For this reason, we have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and now a 4th world in relationship to development status. Of course this is by design...and its also now the only way for corporate capitalism to survive by moving its resources to under-developed countries. By doing so the greed of trans-national corporation can move into another era of temporary profits gaining cheaper labor and selling of products to newly growing economies. So, again after the masses have bought into these deceptions deep enough, they to will be trapped to serving others in ways that erode our personal sovereignty by promoting consumerism & materialism.
“In his 1967 book, The Sacred Canopy, sociologist, Peter Berger, famously argued that religion would decline and become redundant as the world modernized. Three decades later, equally famously, he did a volte-face and said he had been proven wrong; religion was back with vengeance. Like so many “theorists of modernity,” Berger had made the mistake of thinking of modernization as abstract history instead of concrete social reality, a tack sociologists inherited from Enlightenment philosophy. The philosophies of that era entertained a conceptual understanding of history as a long arc with an inbuilt direction, purpose, or goal (telos) and as seen through this lens the decline of religion, as science and technology took over, and was regarded as an inevitable, scientific truth—one of sociology’s own “laws” to rival the inviolable rules that govern the hard sciences. Yet, in our fascination with science, we are carried away by the systematic biases of Cartesian objectivity, we have ignored something critical: the concrete conditions of human existence. “

GREED is one of seven basic character flaws or “dark” personality traits depicted in the graph to the left. We all have the potential for greedy tendencies, but in people with a strong fear of lack or deprivation, Greed can become a dominant pattern.
Other names for greed include avarice, covetousness and cupidity. Selfish and excessive desire is widely considered immoral, a violation of natural or divine law. For example, “avarice” is one of the seven deadly sins in Catholicism (avarice: pleasing oneself with material acquisitions and possessions instead of pleasing God). And according to Buddhism, “craving” is a fundamental hindrance to enlightenment (craving: compulsively seeking happiness through acquiring material things). |
We see and hear about these rags to riches stories all the time in local and celebrity media today, which is one of the highlights to selling personalities today that are used to seduce the masses in admiring the next newly made to be star persona in American Idol, sports, & movies etc...While corporate greed often uses these same human brands for marketing campaigns; and higher yet the military-industrial complex of states {primarily referring to America in this example} uses its trans-national corporate influence for another type of greed for imperialism and world dominance...
Greed stems from a basic fear of life. Stated in this way its vague, so let me expanded upon the statement...Fear of life isn’t just life itself, but entails all other aspects that complete life and or are inevitable within life.
Fears that prevent men and women from experiencing healthy, joyful, and fulfilling relationships - fear of: love and being loved, letting go, sexual fulfillment, uncertainty, being yourself, failing, death and dying...
In other words, greed is often driven by a fundamental sense of deprivation, a need for something that is lacking or unavailable. This of course, is a ready made recipe in developed countries where the divide between the haves-n-have nots is especially transparent and paraded in the face of the oppressed & less fortunate.
Holy Quran 2:268
Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
Holy Quran 4:120
Satan promises them and arouses desire in them. But Satan does not promise them except delusion.
When this feeling of lack is particularly strong, a person can become utterly fixated on seeking what they “need”, always trying to get hold of the one thing that will finally eliminate the deep-rooted feeling of not having enough. Again, that one thing could be money, power, sex, food, attention, etc … just about anything. It could be something concrete or abstract, real or symbolic. But it will become something character specific on which the entire need-greed complex becomes fixated.
Famous psychiatrist, Sigmund Freud outlined the personality to include its emotions and striving, arises from a conflict between impulse and restraint, between our aggression, pleasure-seeking biological urges and our internalized social controls over these urges; something I’ve already highlighted within Islamic-education that bridges the external & internal-self to be fully integrated and embeds within a person loyalties of peace & justice through their voluntary actions {behaviour}. Freud believed personality arises from our efforts to resolve this basic conflict; becoming a way to outwardly express these impulses in ways that bring satisfaction without also bringing guilt or punishment. But, we already know that whenever greed is acted upon it lessens the neurological effects within the brain that allow a person to feel anything towards punishment, much less any guilt for having accomplished something of its greedy desire.
In our societies today, before children even reach the age of understanding, immediately they are bombarded with perfect displays, captions, and phrases or slogans of desire along with images, products & sounds that seemingly hypnotize the outer conscious and begin the media download into their sub-conscious mind that removes not only innocences but also that of contentment and replaces it with notions of satisfying the self. In particular, these and other inadequate methods are another common factor in the formation of greed...like the availability of substitutes. Imagine, for example, a parent who fails to provide nurturing but – out of guilt – provides lots of gifts in the form of money, toys, chocolate, TV. In effect, the parent says “You cannot have me, you cannot have what you really need, but” – “hey”! “You can have this instead.”

(Meyer, 1991, p. 225,“AN OVERVIEW OF THE RESEARCH OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ENTITLEMENT. DEFINITIONS AND CONCEPTUAL CHARACTERISTICS”
Normal entitlement is about “giving and receiving” and about finding the proper relationship with other individuals
entitled in the same manner.
The other two types of entitlement are both pathological and related to negative
outcomes.
Pathological-entitlements might also serve a persons deprivation and validate for themselves all the ambitions that promote their greed. Superiority complexes, racism, narcissism, and even fascism would perhaps also be born from the same pathogen of entitlement. On the contrary, the negative affects of entitlement might only encourage bad behaviour or even be promoted within the culture of society in terms of indulgences. Self-afflictions both despairingly or done in forms of entertainment still have negative consequences against a persons mental health & overall life.
Thus, without the proper grounding and integration of a persons external and internal whims, strengthened by a strong understanding of who we truly are in relationship with the rest of creation and the creator; mankind will always be plagued with psychological disorders and personality traits that openly depict all of the negative traits that non-believers display and personify through their outward behaviours. In this particular digital age of hyper-consumerism and arrogant displays of wealth in the face of poverty, the solutions that are required to rearrange man’s orientation are slim in being implemented due to the massive technological addictions in conjunction with the social inhibitions. Therefore, As usual, it may take a global calamity for humanity to see just how far we are out of bounds in terms of sustainability not only for the environment but also for the psyche.

Normal entitlement is about “giving and receiving” and about finding the proper relationship with other individuals
entitled in the same manner.
The other two types of entitlement are both pathological and related to negative
outcomes.
- Firstly, excessive entitlement is characteristic of those individuals who think that they are more entitled to positive results more than others. They do not care about other people’s feelings and are able to hurt and manipulate as long as their needs are fulfilled.
- Secondly, One thinks that he/she cannot expect to be taken care of, and so develops feelings of unworthiness and powerlessness. This type of entitlement may
give birth either to a restricted sense of entitlement (where the individual is not able
to ask for his/her rights) or to an exaggerated sense of entitlement (where one
thinks that everything could be taken by force) (Kingshott, Bailey, & Wolfe, 2007).
