The general conception is that our so-called leaders control, not that we control them. If the population is out of control and propaganda no longer works, then the state is forced underground to clandestine operations and secret wars.

America and her self-styled conservationists {those you seek to conserve their old traditions of white-supremacy} have shown the entire world who they are and what it is they are trying to conserve apparently at all cost with their desperate attempts to plunder justice, provoke violence domestically...
this manufacturing of consent, and deceiving the masses with necessary illusions has now shifted into the phase of damage control to ensure that the public attention is diverted to the overzealous patriots or to the personality defects of those in power who have strayed from their noble commitments, but not to the institutional factors that determine the persistent and substantive content of these commitments. Democracy...being more so understood as a system of business control and less about the voice of the people; “The Resources Constraint” and the “Demand Constraint”.
All of such, which are in decline along with cultural institutions that sustain different values and concerns, or organizations that provide isolated individuals with the means to think and act outside of the framework imposed by private power. Constrained resources is pretty straightforward, but Constrained Demand is a more subtle means of control, a subtly that is less apparent in a functioning capitalist democracy where the political system sometimes permits a broader range of policy options, which also encompasses programs that warrant social reforms. All of such consequences are well known, such as: capital flight {with democratic president, house, and senate}, loss of business and investor confidence {Wall street}, and social decline as those who own the “Corporation of the United States of America” lose the capacity to govern it...

In other words, the economy, personal security {hierarchy of needs}, and societal justice depends on the happiness of those in control of the Country, with now Fascist extensions into the overall dominance of the world. Because of Colonialization they have forcefully “Constrained Resources” by which the can hold the rest of the world captive over because they control investment, production, distribution and what trickles down to the rest of us who rent-out-ourselves through consented slavery referred to now as employment.
